Hod (hŏd), n. [Prov. E. for hold, i. e., that which holds. See Hold.]
1. A kind of wooden tray with a handle, having V-shaped trough, made of wood or metal, attached to a long handle and usually carried over the shoulder; it is a tool used by construction workers for carrying bricks or mortar.
