    ‖Gorgoniacea , n. pl. [NL. See Gorgonia.] (Zool.) One of the principal divisions of Alcyonaria, including those forms which have a firm and usually branched axis, covered with a porous crust, or cœnenchyma, in which the polyp cells are situated.
