Lilac , n. [Also lilach.] [Sp. lilac, lila, Ar. līlak, fr. Per. līlaj, līlanj, līlang, nīlaj, nīl, the indigo plant, or from the kindred līlak bluish, the flowers being named from the color. Cf. Anil.]
